MEETINGS and OUTINGS were the main activity for Members of the Kenfig Society -- and are usually open to others to attend or join in. Monthly meetings are talks from interesting speakers on local or historical topics. Outings are a chance for a guided visit to local places of historical interest.
NEWSLETTERS: even if you can't make the meetings, you can still find out what is going on!
BOOKS and Booklets by Kenfig Society members:
Over the years, many booklets on topics related to the history of Kenfig have been produced. A three-part book series KENFIG FOLK recounts the 700 years history of the Borough from its founding in A.D. 1147 to its eventual winding-up in 1886.
All of the books and some of the booklets are still on sale.
ARCHIVES of PRINTED and PICTORIAL items:
The Kenfig Archives is a project to collect items relating to Kenfig and surounding areas in electronic format.
ARCHAEOLOGY and the DIG
On-site archaeology in the form of a dig near Kenfig Castle was a major activity of the Society.
Currently the artefacts from the Dig may be viewed at the Kenfig Nature Reserve.
COMMITTEE and MEMBERSHIP:
There was a COMMITTEE to run things, and MEMBERS who gave their support by joining Kenfig Society, but no formal membership or committee continues.
